You stay classy, Washington
Among the finer things said during the bailout debate: “Madam Speaker, this is a huge cowpatty with a piece of marshmallow stuck in the middle of it. I’m not going to eat that cowpatty.” You stay classy, Washington
“I’ve got bigger things to worry about than that.”
Do you want to know what that is? Its you.
Do you want to know who said that? McCain.
Who does he think I was talking about when I said ‘people on Main Street’? Who did he think I was talking about, about the necessity of helping the American taxpayers and income — and Americans who are out there working and trying to keep their jobs?” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”
“I’ve got bigger things to worry about than that.”
I think I’m right in the middle, or even below. I live in that urban area aside from those two and I bet so do most people.
Senator McCain, Rather than telling us “who does he think I was talking about”, why don’t you specfiically say, “I was misquoted, misunderstood, etc – I will absolutely support cutting taxes for those in the middle”.
What bigger things are on your mind, sir? Which bill not to pay this month so you can pay the full electric bill? Which house to tape your CBS interview from?
If you’re reading this left to right, you owe me royalties
The US patent system sucks. I probably owe somebody money for saying that without giving the proper citation.
IBM has a new patent, but if you try to install it in your home or office you probably won’t appreciate the results and I’m pretty sure it would void the warranty and most likely violate someone else’s patent. They have a patent on a sprinkler system.
Seriously, Big Blue is interested in keeping your lawn green. Or, they’re most likely interested in holding patents, hiring patent trolls and suing people that they find violating their patents. There’s lots of legal mumbo-jumbo but I think the patent is for a product that has a weather sensor that can determine if your lawn needs watering. (I might be paraphrasing, so you should really should go over the patent language in the link above with an open mind).
I’m bummed because IBM got my idea patented with another filing - Dealing With Chaos. Whereas my process might be a little different – I tend to start yelling and freaking out, they actually put some thought into dealing with it and now they applied for a patent for a “System and method for optimizing the selection, verification, and deployment of expert resources in a time of chaos” I like my process better – yelling and screaming into someone listens to me, but they filed first.
Granted, they are taking advantage of the US patent process and I can’t really blame them for it. I wonder how their stockholders would react to know they’re using valuable resources for endeavors such as these, which to me seems a little wasteful, but who am I to judge? Come to think of it, the process of casting a personal opinion upon something is probably patented – so therefore I am in no way judging.
If I had been granted permission to use that process – I would say that the US patent process sucks and is killing American small businesses. Large companies keep lawyers on staff whose sole job is to find smaller companies using similar processes that they patented for no other reason that to be dicks (not exactly the same process, but what small company has the resources to prove otherwise?) and slowly suffocate the small company by demanding a percentage of profit or just bringing the wrath of a team of lawyers on them until they’re just out of business.
I wonder who in DC reviews the applications and if they are experts in those fields or just a government employee who makes sure all forms are completed in triplicate, notarized and fees are paid in full? I want to meet the person who approves these patents.
It is a scary headline day
Here are the headlines that are leading the press at the moment that I write this post.
7.3 MAG QUAKE ROCKS NEW ZEALAND…
Oil sinks below $100…
Gas Shortage In Southeast Expected To Last Two More Weeks…
HURRICANE HITS CANADA!
Venezuela to build nuclear technology with Russia
How awesome is that.
The next time John McCain says again the Senator does not understand
Barack Obama needs to grow a pair. Barack, ask John if he understands everything so well, and he has been in office for soooooo long then why doesn’t he explain the financial mess we are going through, why didn’t he stop the crisis before it happened, why didn’t he take his experience and knowledge and leverage that to make a change before the economy was screwed…. Seriously do not take these hits on the chin without giving him due credit for his accomplishments.
Obama better grow a pair
I am so pissed that Democrats cannot find a candidate that has the balls to call out Republicans. Look, I do not agree with Democrats 60% of the time, but I just cannot believe how weak Democrats are in debates over the last 8 years.
Tough Beavers break Trojans
OK, people in bars talk about more than just politics. Here are some funny headlines from the Oregon State upset of USC Trojans last night.
Tough Beavers break Trojans.
Beaver aim to top Trojans.
Trojans unable to penetrate tough Beavers.
Beaver come over the top of Trojans.
Ruthless Beavers keep Trojans from reaching the top.
Trojans unable to find the Beavers weak spot.
Those are just a few I found funny. Please feel free to add more.

Vote for the guy with just one house.
The guy with one house really cares about losing a house, because he is homeless. The other guy can lose five houses and still got a bunch of houses. Does this make any sense? Am I the only one that sees this?
