That is some good Congress’ing there Lou : Part 2

January 8, 2009 · Posted in Political Figures, Political Issues, Politics, Sports

Ocala Republican Representative Cliff Stearns asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to reschedule votes up for discussion on Thursday evening and Friday so that House members from Oklahoma and Florida could go to the college football National Championship game planned for tonight.

Funny thing, the other representatives to whom he referred as “we” signed the letter, so I guess he just assumed they wanted to go too.

Pelosi’s office said she would not entertain the idea.

So far college football has occupied more Congressional time than I’d prefer to see.

I’d like to think that those we have elected to run the country for us have a few more pressing issues to deal with.

I for one would be unbelievable pissed if they took the day off to watch the game, and this is coming from a person who is planning his whole evening around it. The country has bigger problems, and it amazes me that congress would even dream of asking such a thing. Kick their ass Seabass.
